Testimonials
“Everyone can compose a song and its never too late to start. If you would like to write Hit Pop Song like how you hear it on the radio, then this course is definitely the right choice!!” I attended the 9 month course and benefitted a lot from it. The syllabus is very clear and in depth. We had theory, practical and song sharing sessions which maximized all possible interactions. Coverage is good too, as in, the instructor knows how to cater to students of different level and abilities. Both instructors Eric and Jim are experienced, dedicated and patient. Valuable feedbacks were given as we present our songs; we had specific assignments to work on so as to prepare for actual industrial requirements. We also had the chance to attempt writing songs for popular artistes during the course. I would say this course will be a valuable experience for all aspiring song writers. Personally, I felt my improvement in song writing and I became more motivated to write songs as the directions for me now are much clearer. – Ashton Koh, MDA-WDA Hit Melody Songwriting Student |
I’ve never thought the art of pop song writing and lyrics writing is something that can be “taught”. Throughout the 9-month course at FM Pop Music School, we not only learn the formula for writing a HIT song, but also given the actual industrial experience, learning to write for popular artistes based on requirements by record companies. This is indeed a valuable experience for all aspiring song writers. 🙂 With MDA subsidising most of the course fees, there is absolutely NO excuse to give these courses a miss! 😀 – Regine Han, MDA-WDA Hit Melody & Lyrics Songwriting Student |
Some of the classes we take in life are more important than others. After graduating from the MDA-WDA sponsored “Career in Hit Songwriting” course conducted by FM Pop Music School (what a mouthful XD), i would like to express that this is one such (heck of a kick ass) class. Being mentored by top-notch songwriters and producers, Eric Ng and Jim Lim, every week was an experience like no other. Not only did they critique my work objectively, they were so down-to-earth when teaching, that we sometimes forgot that they were the MASTERS of their craft and how awesome they were to be actually sitting there teaching me how to improve MY song. The course syllabus were centered on helping me improve my melody to make it sound like a HIT and some extra tips were given to guide my demo-making. During the course, i was vigorously forced to write new songs almost every week. I know it sounds like a lot of work (which it is), but it really improved my songwriting! Practice is key. Also, i met so many friends in the course! It was really humbling to hear songs from others, and i could really hear from the different songs that we came from various backgrounds in terms of music, so it was really interesting. Anyway, i would like to say a big THANK YOU to Eric, Jim and Xiaohan Laoshis, for teaching me so many things to aid my career as a songwriter, MDA and WDA for financial help (heh), FM Pop Music School for making this possible and all my coursemates for making it such an enjoyable course! – Cheng Jin An, MDA-WDA Hit Melody Songwriting and Lyrics Writing Student |
